Beagle
15" Beagle
13" Beagle
The Beagle is a scent hound, developed in the British Isles where it hunted mainly rabbit and hare in packs with the huntsmen originally following on foot. Written references to the breed can be found as far back as Chaucer in the 14th century and the Beagle has evolved quite naturally ever since - free of cross breeding and exaggeration. The soft brown eyes of the Beagle convey his warm personality, but do not instantly reveal his admirable courage and stamina. The latter qualities are especially important while the Beagle is at work in the field, but in the home, no gentler or more trustworthy friend could be found.
