English Foxhound
The handsome English Foxhound was developed in England where it was bred to follow fox as well as stag. Unlike its American counterpart, the English Foxhound is stout and heavy with round, rather than bladed, bone. The breed was designed and reared to be followed by hunters on horseback, which is good because it gallops and easily jumps fences and streams as necessary. The English Foxhounds have a glorious voice when in pursuit of quarry. The breed is a tremendous worker, accustomed to hunting, exercising and living with other hounds. The occasional dog that is chosen as a companion must be well socialized and made to feel that its human family is its pack.
