Rhodesian Ridgeback
The Rhodesian Ridgeback, sometimes referred to as the "African Lion Hound", is a native of South Africa and was bred by the boer farmers to fill their specific need for a serviceable hunting dog in the wilds. A strong, muscular, active and athletic dog, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is devoted and affectionate to his master and reserved with strangers. He is clean, an easy keeper, and never noisy or quarrelsome. His trainability, good nature, desire to please his master, and his liking for children continue to make him new friends. The characteristic feature of the breed is the ridge on the back, formed by the hair growing the opposite direction to the rest of the coat.
