Scottish Deerhound
The history of the Scottish Deerhound teams with romance, including the age of chivalry when no one of rank lower than an Earl was allowed to possess these dogs. Centuries of hunting as the companions and guards of highland chieftains have given the Scottish Deerhound an insatiable desire for human companionship. The hunting of antlered game with dogs is not permitted in the United States, but the Scottish Deerhound has been used very successfully on wolves, coyotes and rabbits. In character, he is quiet, dignified, devoted, keen and alert. Although not aggressive, the Scottish Deerhound has great persistence and indomitable courage when needed.
